Categories: , ,

Rare studio craft made stools by Lila Swift and Donald Monell, ca. 1950s. The stools are constructed of leather straps stretched upon welded steel frames. Lila Swift and Donald Monell operated a small studio on Beacon Street in Boston, and also were associated with the artist community in Gloucester. They exhibited at the Furniture Forum and Current Design at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art in the 1950s. Stools measure 18″ high, 15″ diameter. All original leather. Stool one-all leather intact. Stool tw0- some straps have been mended from the underside (as seen in pictures). Leather of both stools dry and fragile. Stunningly distressed, the stools exude museum-quality authenticity and are ready for light use only. $1,500 pair.
