This Norwegian Teak Wall Unit was made by Alfred Sand in the late 1950’s, and has been siiting in one place since it’s original purchase. This piece exemplifies the modern furniture movement; it has been designed with the utmost care to use the bare minimum of materials, time and labor to construct, so that the user may buy a high quality piece at an affordable price. It is constructed in modules that are stacked on to the solid teak frame, and even the frame itself simply nests in the notched legs, yet the piece is quite solid and stable. It’s modest too in it’s proportions, the teak boards are just a bit over a half inch wide, and the piece measures just 16″d X 62″l X 63″ at it’s highest. It features a pullout writing /serving surface with a backless opening underneath for electronics or art books, a three drawer cabinet, a two door caned cabinet with an adjustable shelf, small sliding door cabinet with an office sorter, a large 23″h X 30″w X 11″d opening perfect for a large screen or art and objects. I’m pretty sure that it is a String design, but the designer’s name is not on the mark. It is in very good condition with some light stains to the 28″h top.
